Gartner’s hype cycle has found that MR may be a big deal down the line.

The hype cycle reveals that mixed reality (MR) will become a more widely used human-machine interface tech in the next few years. The tech would enable people to interact with the world in more complex and innovative ways, which will be beneficial for businesses and companies alike.

In other situations in which AR or VR could be used, Gartner says that MR may take a front seat as the preferred technology, as it integrates real-world objects and virtual items. I am personally unsure about this as AR has the potential to be more widely used by phones and smart glasses, so we shall see. Where is the mention of Apple’s upcoming glasses?

According to Gartner, technology will continue to become more human-centric to the point where it will introduce transparency between people, businesses and things. These technologies extend and enable smarter living, work, and other spaces we encounter.

“Emerging technologies representing transparently immersive experiences are mostly on their way to the peak or — in the case of silicon anode batteries — just crossed it,” said Mr. Walker. “The smart workspace has moved along quite a bit and is about to peak in the near future.”
